How to plan a connection between bus services

How much time should you allow between journeys, how can you check bus stations, and how can you minimise the risk of missing a connection?

Зміст статті

A connecting flight may make your journey cheaper or more convenient, but you’ll need to allow plenty of time. Take particular care when planning connections after an international flight involving border control.

    Allow plenty of time

Allow at least 60–90 minutes for a domestic connection, and considerably more after crossing the border. The estimated time of arrival is not guaranteed.

    Check the bus stations

There may be several bus stations in the city. Check the full addresses of arrival and your next departure, as well as the travel time between them.

    Have a backup plan

Save the timetable for subsequent journeys, transport operators’ contact details and a map of the city. Tickets booked as part of a single booking may have different connection protection terms to individual tickets.

A quick checklist before your journey

    • Allow for a realistic buffer
    • Check the full addresses
    • Take border crossings and traffic jams into account
    • Have a backup plan

Before setting off, check the current terms and conditions of travel on your ticket and the rules for crossing the border on official websites. You can find a convenient bus journey and compare departure times and prices on RedRay.
