The Residence deserves a whole half-day to itself. Before you go, check the visiting arrangements and which areas are open to the public. Don’t try to rush through it before another booked tour at the other end of the city.

You can combine a visit to the cathedral with a stroll through the city centre, and a visit to Marienberg Fortress with a separate climb. Bear in mind both the distance and the elevation when planning your route to the fortress.
