Зміст статті

It’s best to plan your two days in Bucharest by neighbourhood, so you spend less time travelling between them. This itinerary leaves time for architecture, museums and Romanian cuisine, as well as a chance to relax after the coach journey and make some unexpected stops along the way.

Day one: exploring the city centre

Start with the Old Town and University Square. Walk between the nearest attractions, and choose one paid attraction in advance. Check opening times, entry rules and temporary restrictions on the city’s official websites.

    Day 2: Another neighbourhood

Continue your journey via the Palace of Parliament and Herăstrău Park. Don’t overload your day with museums: alternate between indoor attractions, viewpoints and walks. If the weather changes, have an indoor alternative ready.

    Transport and food

Download an offline map and check how to pay for local transport. For meals, it’s best to choose a place a little off the beaten track from the main tourist square and leave some time without a booking – this makes a short trip more flexible.

How to prepare for a coach journey

Save the exact arrival and departure addresses, and choose your accommodation based on its proximity to the station. General tips for the country can be found in the RedRay article. It’s handy to check your travel essentials against a checklist for a long journey.

    Return journey

Allow plenty of time to get to the coach station, especially in the evening or at weekends. You can compare journeys to and from the city on RedRay. Before leaving your accommodation, check the operator’s announcements and the platform.
