Border controls should not be judged solely on the basis of someone else’s comment about how long they take. What matters for passengers is having their documents in order, following staff instructions and having a backup plan for the rest of their journey.
Check your eligibility to travel
Before purchasing a ticket, familiarise yourself with the current requirements of the Ukrainian Border Guard Service and the country of entry, as they apply to your nationality and status. A ticket confirms your transport, not an automatic right to cross the border. Certain circumstances, such as travelling with a child or a pet, require their own set of supporting documents. If in doubt, seek official clarification in good time.
Keep your documents to hand whilst travelling
Do not pack your passport deep inside your luggage. Follow the instructions of border guards and train staff; the location and procedure for checks depend on the journey. Do not plan for a minimal connection time simply because your previous journey was quick. Keep the contact details of the second carrier and updates on the actual journey progress.
