A ticket, accommodation and a museum visit may seem fine on their own, but they might not all fit together. A single itinerary allows you to check them all as a single trip.
What to plan in advance
Book your arrangements for the actual dates. Mark an overnight journey as spanning two days, and check-in as the date specified by the accommodation provider. Match your arrival time with the start date of your stay: an overnight stay prior to a morning arrival is not automatically added due to the early arrival time.
How to apply this to your trip
Check the return bus after midnight separately. If it departs at 1 am on Tuesday, the journey to the bus stop begins as early as Monday. Keep the time as stated by the operator and do not add any further adjustments to the local time that has already been correctly indicated.
Check before taking the next step
Summarise the results of your check in a single brief note. Distinguish confirmed arrangements from your own assumptions: the carrier’s reply, accommodation conditions and a rough estimate on the map carry different weights. On the eve of your departure, go back over any unresolved points, rather than rushing to reread the entire correspondence whilst you’re already at the bus stop.

Questions and answers
Why do I need to view my booking as a whole?
This makes it easier to spot overnight transitions between dates, unnecessary or missing overnight stays, and impossible time connections.
What’s best to include in the final itinerary?
Only information you can act on: times, addresses, contact details, confirmations and the next step.
What should you check the day before departure?
Check the departure time and address, your documents, your phone’s battery level, the weather forecast and any messages from the transport provider. Save your ticket and contact details offline.
How much time should you allow before boarding the bus?
Follow the carrier’s recommendations and allow extra time for public transport, finding the platform and checking your documents. For international journeys, it’s better to arrive early than to plan a tight connection.
