The key issue is not whether you have a paper ticket or an electronic one, but whether you have a document that entitles you to board the flight. A booking confirmation, a bank receipt and a boarding pass may look similar, but they serve different purposes.
Read the instructions on the document
Check whether the ticket is valid for boarding without exchange and which documents you need to present alongside it. Read international bookings particularly carefully: do not apply your experience of domestic journeys to all other journeys. If the document requires exchange or printing, complete this in good time via the channel specified by the seller.
Ensure you can access it without an internet connection
Save the original file or an offline copy of the document, and check the code and all the edges of the page. Do not use a cropped screenshot where passenger details or the train number are missing. Open your ticket in advance when boarding. A backup paper copy may be convenient, but it will not correct incorrect details or an invalid ticket.

Questions and Answers
Is a bank cheque a ticket?
No. It confirms the transaction, not the right to board.
Do I need to print all my tickets?
Please refer to the instructions for the specific boarding document, particularly when travelling internationally.
What should I do if I don’t have internet access?
Open a document you’ve saved in advance. Check that this is possible whilst you’re still at home.
Can I send the ticket to the passenger?
Send the full document without cropping it and make sure the details are in the passenger’s name.
